The shadows draw together into a large, hunched fey figure, its wings unfurling behind it like hooked arches. Its horns curve back in serrated sweeps, reminiscent of a giant insect’s carapace. Where its eyes should be, two smaller maws gape wide, while a third eye, unblinkingly, scans the room. When its central maw parts in a mournful smile, it reveals rows of razor-sharp teeth, immaculate, impossibly white and slick with fresh blood.
